Our team is committed to fostering a sense of community and belonging, and we strive to create a safe environment where individuals can explore new opportunities and make positive choices. We firmly believe in the potential for change and work tirelessly to intervene and interrupt cycles of violence, ultimately aiming to build a safer and more inclusive society.
Goals & Objectives
The Violence Injury Prevention Coalition (VIP) was developed as a grass-root effort to intervene with a victim, family, or the community when a violent incident has occurred. Pre-selected and trained violence interrupters (VIs), who are credible messengers from the community they serve, will be available to meet with the victims of violence and utilize the “teachable moment” to impact change. This is the time after a life-threatening event occurs when an individual is most open to risk factor modification. The risk factors to violence that we hope to impact include violence normalization, conflict resolution, access to substance abuse and mental health resources, lack of support, exposure to violence or past abuse, and access to educational and employment opportunities.
